Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Fund

In 2008, Minnesota voters approved the Arts and Cultural Heritage Amendment to pay for improvements in clean water, environment and natural resources, outdoor heritage, parks and trails, and arts and cultural heritage.  Public broadcasters, including Minnesota Public Television Association, Minnesota Public Radio, and Ampers,  have receieved new funding.  With these funds, KUMD has been able to provide more cultural and artistic programming to the people of Northeastern Minnesota. The following programs and local event coverage have been made possible by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund: Program Description Airing Day/Time  Live from Studio A  Live interviews and performances from a variety of artists, including many from Minnesota Weekday afternoons,  once a week on average  Radio Gallery  Five-minute interview with a Minnesota artist Wednesdays at 4:00pm Thursdays at 7:45am  Alworth Lectures  One-hour lecture series on global and local issues  Mondays at 7pm opposite City Council meetings  Caring and Sharing  Live interview with local charities and non-profits including: CHUM Habitat for Humanity Community Action Program Second Harvest Food Bank Damiano Center MN Assistance Council for Veterans Foster Grandparents Program Meals on Wheels Neighborhood Housing Services Northland Spay and Neuter December and January 2-5 minute interviews weekday mornings.  Event Coverage: Named official radio station Signage and booth setup for each event 1. Park Point Art Festival 2. Glensheen Art Festival 3. Homegrown Music Festival 4. Harvest Festival and Energy Fair 5. Sustainability Week  Air live interview one week before each event with participating artists or contributor  Event coverage: Live reporting and/or signage and booth setup 1. Bayfront Reggae Festival 2. Bulldog Welcome Week for UMD freshmen 3. Grandma's Marathon 4. Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon 5.
