Nat Harvie of Duluth band Vivielle released a solo EP on July 1, 2016.

He stopped by The Local on July 6 to share tunes from the project and spoke with host DJ TeeJay.

They talked about the EP, titled Snow is a Gift to My Fear, which was inspired by the bleakness and monotony of a Duluth winter and written during a wet, gray winter north in British Columbia, where Harvie goes to college.

DJ Teejay, host of the Local and the Lounge Wednesday nights on KUMD, shares her top ten albums of the year and top local albums of the year.

KUMD is deeply saddened by the loss of Edgewood Smith a.k.a. DJ-E, a longtime host of "The Local."  We offer our condolences to his friends and family.  We shared our tribute to DJ-E on The Local, July, 22, with guests from the KUMD team, family requests and some of Edgewood's favorite tracks honoring his  contribution to the Duluth music community.

"Peace and Noise" - DJ-E

We celebrated the Homegrown Music Festival with a special two-hour edition of the Local featuring local experimental supergroup Big Science. Listen to their performance and interview with DJ E.

A special edition of The Local on KUMD with Paul Lundgren of local blog Perfect Duluth Day. Paul joined Christine Dean for an hour of songs that mention Duluth in their title or lyrics (based on this PDD post.)
