Indie Folk

KUMD

This male/female folk-pop group recently released its second full-length album, From the Light. The upstate New York act dropped by our studios on July 30, 2018 to share some tunes and talk about the new album and their transition from a duo into a four-piece.

KUMD

This Minnesota acoustic trio recently released its second album, Like Kings. With an eclectic, folk-based sound that also brings in influences ranging from jazz to metal, they've toured nationally, including performances at SXSW for the past two years. They'll join us in the studio on Friday, August 3 at 2pm for a preview of their show later that night at Beaner's Central in Duluth.

Listen to our session with Michael Ferrier of this Minneapolis indie folk/rock band from May 11, 2018. They've released three albums, most recently 2017's Asilomar. We chatted with Michael about the making of that album and he shared solo versions of a couple of songs from it live in the studio.

Live from Studio A on KUMD is made possible by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Fathom Lane

When this indie folk duo from upstate New York passed through Duluth several months ago, they left anyone who was lucky enough to catch them live wanting more. In 2016 they released their sophomore EP, In the Altogether, showcasing their beautifully-crafted songs and rich male/female vocal harmonies. They returned to Duluth on June 13, 2017 for a show at the Red Herring Lounge and joined us in the studio that afternoon.
