30 years later - still For The Birds!

Laura Erickson at KUMD circa 1987

Ever since May 12, 1986, Laura Erickson has been our "pocket field guide" to the birds of the Northland.

But she's been so much more than that.  Laura has introduced us to the poetry of Emily Dickinson, Robert Frost, J. Drew Lanham, Billy Collins, Ogden Nash and so many, many more.  She's made us familiar with King Lear, Love's Labours Lost, and a host of other Shakespearean plays.

She's made us laugh (check out this blog post for a list of some of her Greatest Hits),  made us cry (if you can make it through this one, you're doing better than the morning host did the day it aired) and made us think about more than birds.  Laura Erickson has taught us to think about - sometimes literally - the nature of things.

From all of us here at KUMD, Happy Birthday/Anniversary, Laura!  Here's to another 30 years!!
