Art Week: fiber artist Julie Crabtree: Is it a painting? How do you do that? Can I touch it?

Jun 26, 2019

It's not that Julie Crabtree doesn't want customers to get their hands on her artwork.

In fact, she's thrilled with peoples' responses to her work: complex layers of hand-spun, hand-dyed fibers, hand-stitchery, free motion machine stitching, needle felting, distressing, fusing, and any other technique that comes to mind.

It's just that her work is almost irresistibly tactile, to the point where she made up a little piece people can touch and hold when they invariably ask her "frequently asked questions": the answers are no, "let me tell you," and "you can touch this."

More information about and samples of Julie's work is available here.
