The death of George Floyd last week has brought black and brown people together to protest a shared history of systemic racism, violence and death, and it's no surprise that Indigenous leaders and community members joined the protest and march Saturday afternoon in Duluth.

Despite the 20° below windchills forecast for this evening, a group of people are expected to assemble at Minnesota Power Plaza this evening for a public vigil aimed at pressuring Representative Pete Stauber to vote for the impeachment of President Trump. A full House vote on the Articles of Impeachment is scheduled for Wednesday, but Stauber has already gone on record as saying he opposes impeaching the President.

Last December, local television reporter and news anchor Michelle Lee retired after almost 40 years as a broadcaster.  Within a few weeks, she boarded a bus with a crowd of other Northlanders and headed for Washington DC.

Never one to miss a chance to stretch KUMD’s budget with volunteers, I asked Michelle if she’d mind capturing some audio and doing some interviews for us on the trip, and she graciously consented, then joined me in the studio to talk about the trip.
