Duluth Artist Carla Hamilton's a solo show called “Minnesota Nice” is up for one more week at Prøve Gallery, welcoming visitors to stop in during the Downtown Duluth Arts Walk on Friday, Sept. 28.

Hamilton's exhibit has brought a fresh voice inviting the audience to examine their cultural constructs and social discomfort that create and sustain disparity and inequality through collage, film and more.

This week a unique intersection of art and science is on display in the Duluth community. Catch"Black Gold: Lake Sturgeon Zine Release and Art Exhibit," at Prøve Gallery with a gathering and panel discussion about the most ancient fish around - the sturgeon.

You can see over 40 sturgeon works of art on display in large format at Prøve Gallery plus pick up the zine, a printing off all the images. All proceeds from the sale of the zine go toward traveling this exhibit to communities on the Great Lakes including this Duluth show.

This Friday, December 16 is a special night at Prøve Gallery celebrating the latest edition of locally produced ABZ: All Black Zine.  The show brings together artists, writers, storytellers, musicians and more in a multi media and interactive event.

What are Plys?  Skateboard decks; made from multiple thin plys of wood.  This week on Radio Gallery the show's organizer Taylor Kline of Prove Gallery explains the exciting and innovative annual art event Plys with Purpose.  Artists from Duluth and around the world participate each year to support local efforts to build a skate park for Duluth youth.  Over 30 different piece of original graphic and fine art will be up for grabs this Friday.

103.3 The Basement is a proud sponsor of Plys with Purpose opening at Prove Gallery on Friday, November 18th from 7pm-10pm. The gallery will showcase a silent auction of 30 crafted skateboard decks by local, national, and international artists with proceeds going to the Gary New Duluth Development Alliance for their ongoing efforts to build a public, stat-of-the-art skateboard park in Gary New Duluth. In the last three years, Plys with Purpose has included more than 100 artists, and this year, we will catch up with those artists who are new and returning.
